Smoking Policy

1. Every vehicle is non-smoking
Smoking, vaping and the use of any tobacco, cannabis or nicotine product is prohibited in every vehicle in the fleet, without exception, by the renter and by any passenger. This applies with the windows open, at a standstill, and outside the vehicle where smoke enters it.
2. Smoking violation fee — $250
Where there is clear evidence that smoking or vaping took place in the vehicle, a fee of $250 applies. Evidence includes ash, burn marks, cigarette ends in the vehicle or its bins, the smell of smoke in the cabin or ventilation, or residue on interior surfaces. The figure reflects what it costs: ozone treatment or interior shampooing, replacement of cabin filters where needed, and the days the vehicle spends off the road while that is done.
3. Why the amount is what it is
Smoke does not wash out. It settles into headliner, upholstery and the ventilation system, and the next renter notices immediately. A vehicle that smells of smoke cannot be rented until it has been treated, and the treatment is not a valet — it is a day or more out of service. The fee covers the treatment and the lost availability, not a penalty on top.
4. Evidence, charging and disputes
As with cleaning, the fee is charged only where we hold dated photographs at return alongside the handover set, both visible on your trip page. The amount is taken from the security deposit, and any balance is invoiced. Where damage from smoking is permanent — burn holes in upholstery or trim — that is handled as damage and charged at the cost of repair, in addition to this fee. You may dispute the charge from your trip page.
