We collect information you provide directly (name, email, phone number, postal address, driver's license, government-issued ID and selfie for Stripe Identity verification, vehicle details if you list as a host, payment card details processed by Stripe), information you generate while using the platform (bookings, messages with hosts or renters, reviews, support requests), and technical information collected automatically (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, referring URLs).
We use your information to provide and operate the platform (process bookings, charge security deposits, issue refunds, coordinate insurance, route customer support), to verify identity and prevent fraud (via Stripe Identity), to send transactional communications (booking confirmations, pickup and return reminders, dispute responses, payout notices), to send marketing communications you have opted into, to improve the product, and to comply with legal obligations including tax reporting (e.g., Form 1099-K issued by Stripe to qualifying hosts).
We share information only with service providers and partners that need it to perform their function: Stripe (payments, identity verification, Connect payouts), Clerk (authentication), Cloudinary (vehicle and document image storage), Resend (transactional email delivery), Twilio (SMS notifications where enabled), Wheelbase / Outdoorsy / Mobilitas (insurance coordination for Trip Insurance Plan bookings), Vercel and Railway (hosting infrastructure), Google Maps (location lookups), and lawful authorities when required by subpoena, court order, or to investigate fraud or safety threats. We do not sell your personal data.
We use first-party cookies for authentication, session management, and remembering preferences. We use limited analytics to understand aggregate site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser, though parts of the platform that require authentication will stop functioning without them.
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Booking records, identity verification results, payment records, and tax-relevant data are retained per applicable tax and consumer protection laws (typically 7 years). Aggregated, non-identifying data may be retained longer for analytics.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, "CCPA"), to: (a) know what categories of personal information we collect, the sources we collect from, the business or commercial purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it; (b) request access to a copy of the specific personal information we have collected about you in a portable format; (c) request that we correct inaccurate personal information; (d) request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution retention requirements; (e) opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and (f) not be discriminated against — including being denied service, charged a different price, or provided a different level or quality of service — for exercising any of these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. We do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email gmotionrentals@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account or visit our /legal/do-not-sell page. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf by providing a valid written authorization, your government-issued ID, and the agent's government-issued ID.
Residents of Colorado (Colorado Privacy Act), Connecticut (Connecticut Data Privacy Act), Virginia (Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act), Utah (Utah Consumer Privacy Act), Texas (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act), Oregon (Oregon Consumer Privacy Act), Delaware (Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act), Iowa (Iowa Consumer Data Protection Act), Montana (Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act), New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Nebraska have rights analogous to those of California residents above — including the rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and opting out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal data, subject to the specific requirements of each state's law. To exercise these rights, email gmotionrentals@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account; identify the state in which you reside and the right you wish to exercise; we will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law (typically 45 days). If we deny your request, you have the right to appeal — reply to our denial email with the subject "Privacy Appeal" and we will review the request again. If your appeal is denied, you may complain to the attorney general or consumer protection agency of your state.
We use third-party identity verification (Stripe Identity) that processes biometric identifiers — including facial geometry derived from your selfie and your driver's license photo — for the purpose of confirming your identity before allowing you to rent a vehicle. Our handling of biometric data is governed by a separate Biometric Data Privacy Policy that complies with the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA, 740 ILCS § 14/1 et seq.), the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifiers Act (CUBI, Tex. Bus. & Com. Code Ann. § 503.001), and Washington H.B. 1493 (RCW 19.375), where applicable based on your state of residence.
Under California law, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information at any time. Although we do not sell personal information for money and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, we provide a clear opt-out path consistent with the CCPA regulations effective January 1, 2026: visit /legal/do-not-sell or click the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our website footer.
We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards: TLS for all data in transit, encryption at rest for payment and identity data via Stripe, role-based access controls, signed Stripe webhooks, and routine logging and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure — promptly report any suspected unauthorized access of your account to gmotionrentals@gmail.com.
