How G Motion Rentals Works: A Step-by-Step Guide

How G Motion Rentals Works: A Step-by-Step Guide
Renting your first car through a peer-to-peer marketplace can feel different from the big-name counter at the airport. Here's exactly what happens at each step of a G Motion Rentals booking — from browsing the fleet to picking up the keys.
Step 1 — Browse the fleet
Visit /cars to see every approved vehicle currently available. You can filter by type (sedan, SUV, luxury, electric, exotic), transmission, fuel type, and seats. The grid shows the daily rate, mileage allowance, and a few key features. Click any card to see the full listing — multiple photos, full feature list, Q&A, and renter reviews.
If you don't have specific dates yet, you can save favorite cars; if you do, enter your pickup and return dates at the top of the page to filter out anything that's already booked.
Step 2 — Pick dates and add extras
On the car detail page, pick your pickup and return dates and times. The booking summary updates live with your daily rate, mileage allowance, security deposit, and total estimate. Optional Extras you can add:
- Delivery to LAX, Burbank, or your hotel
- Airport pickup
- Pre-purchased refuel (skip the gas station before return)
- EV charging package for electric vehicles
- Full Self-Driving software activation (Tesla)
- Additional driver (must present their own license at pickup)
After picking dates and extras, hit Continue to Booking.
Step 3 — Sign in and verify identity
You'll be asked to sign in or create an account (takes about 30 seconds — name, email, password). Then we verify your identity through Stripe Identity, which checks:
- A valid driver's license (front and back, photographed in-app)
- A selfie that matches your license
- An age check (21+ is required)
This is all done in your browser; you never have to email a copy of your license or upload it to an unverified site. The verification typically takes under a minute. Once approved, your identity verification is saved on your profile so future bookings skip this step entirely.
Step 4 — Review, sign, pay
We assemble your full rental agreement on-screen — vehicle details, dates, fees, daily rate, security deposit hold, insurance, and the cancellation policy. Review it, sign electronically (a single check box under the U.S. ESIGN Act), and confirm.
Payment processes through Stripe with industry-standard security. The total rental amount is charged immediately; the refundable security deposit ($250–$1000 depending on vehicle category) is placed as a hold on the same card, not a separate charge. You'll see both on your statement; the deposit hold releases automatically after your return.
Step 5 — Pick up the keys
Before your trip start time, you'll receive an email and (if you opted in) SMS confirmation with the pickup address, vehicle details, and the host's contact information. For most rentals at our LA location:
10314 S Western Ave, Unit B, Los Angeles, CA 90047
At pickup:
- A team member walks the vehicle with you and takes dated photos of all four corners, front, back, dashboard, and odometer.
- They confirm your driver's license matches the booking name.
- You sign off on the pre-trip condition report.
- You get the keys.
Total pickup time: 10–15 minutes for most vehicles. Exotic rentals run 30–45 minutes (additional documentation and walk-around video).
During the trip
While you have the car:
- Drive safely and obey all traffic laws. Tickets, tolls, and parking violations remain your responsibility.
- Don't smoke in the vehicle — a $500 cleaning fee applies if smoke is detected.
- No off-road or track use unless specifically allowed in the listing.
- No commercial use — no rideshare, no delivery, no commercial photography or filming.
If something goes wrong — flat tire, mechanical issue, accident — call our 24/7 support line immediately (the number is on your dashboard sticker and in your booking email). We dispatch roadside assistance or arrange a replacement vehicle as quickly as possible.
Return
At return time:
- Park at the agreed return location.
- Make sure fuel/charge is at the same level as pickup (or your pre-purchased refuel package will cover it).
- Remove personal items.
- Drop the keys with the team or in the secure drop box.
A team member completes a return inspection within 24 hours (often the same hour). The deposit hold releases within 3–10 business days depending on your bank.
After your trip
A few days after your return, you'll get a short review prompt. Leaving a brief rating and comment helps other renters and helps us spotlight the best vehicles. The host also rates you — repeat good renters earn discounts on future trips and have priority access to popular vehicles.
If anything went wrong with the trip, the in-app messaging keeps a complete record of every communication. Our support team has access to it and can resolve disputes quickly.
That's the whole flow. Browse the fleet to get started.
